As Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dogs, their small size causes some challenges in the process of Chihuahua training. You can also wish if your Chihuahua was a little big but don’t you think- it’s actually her small size that has made her adorable and attractive as pet? These dogs generally weigh about just 6 pounds or less while bigger dogs weigh more than 12 pounds. The bigger dogs can easily resist cold weather and they are more athletic with active participation in almost all the things. Chihuahua training is not just difficult with their small size but also due to their big attitude. You should handle them tactfully and socialize them for better results. Even the two dogs of the same breed can have vast difference if one is socialized and another isn’t.
Due to Chihuahua small size, they can easily get injured or someone can sit above or step on them without noticing them. They may hurt themselves when fall from even a little height. So, always be careful about these things to prevent such accidents.
You should also take special care of them when there’s either highly cold or hot temperatures. Don’t take them for a walk in cold seasons or leave them alone for a longer time. Big dogs can also cause harm to your little Chihuahua. So, protect them from other animals too.
Though their small size is their major attractions, it has lots of disadvantages as well. Feeding a Chihuahua is also quite complicated because too many diets can cause overweight or any quick change in the diet may cause some digestive problems or sickness. So, avoid feeding them a lot.
Chihuahua training is very important if you are wishing to have a well-behaved, obedient, well-adjusted and a happy dog. The training approach used for this breed is not so similar with other breeds of dog training. So, you need to be more alert and cautious while training them as they are too sensible to handle.
